50 SONGS OF THE SOLDIERS AND SAILORS. 67. O GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST.
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home!
Under the shadow of Thy throne
Still may we dwell secure! Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.
Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away; They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
O God, our help In ages past,
Our hope for years to come; Be Thou our Guide while life shall last.
And our eternal home!
68. HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION.
(A flat.)
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word! What more can He say than to you He hath said— To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
" Fear not, I am with thee, oh, be not dismayed, For I am thy God, I will still.give thee aid; I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to
stand, Upheld by My gracious, omnipotent hand."
